Flexible affordable childcare is something we have always been passionate about – mainly because there doesn’t seem to be enough of it around and when there is, it can be so expensive. Having a child can be more costly than originally thought; on top of the basics, there’s then activities, outings, toys…the list is endless, and the idea of childcare hasn’t even been approached. Parents do not have it easy and it certainly isn’t cheap.
How It All Began
When FountLondon opened its gates to the railway arches back in 2015 – now FountHackney – having a childcare option was always a priority, which is how FountNursery was created. All of the above aspects factored into creating a space in which parents felt comfortable leaving their child – but also not breaking the bank at the same time.
So we’ve put on our thinking caps, tweaked a few little things and come to the rescue of parents in need. We’d like to introduce you to FountKids.
Branching from FountNursery, but not a direct association, this new type of setting has been created by Rachel Munro-Peebles to help support the working parents she meets every day through FountLondon – via it’s various sites – and the local area. She wanted to break away from the formalities of a day nursery to create something exclusive for the ever-growing number of independent businesses – and entrepreneurial parents – around East London (for now…).
After co-founding FountNursery and FountHackney four years ago, Rachel decided it was time to merge her starting business – AirLocations – with the new FountLondon; by doing so, it meant she could expand and develop the business into the passion she had the vision for all those years ago.
AirLocations has worked with, housed and supported creative start-ups for over 20 years; at the forefront of these businesses were over-worked, stressed out parents – desperate for two hours to themselves/the chance to take a phone call without a screaming baby/adult conversation. Whilst they were creating magic commercially, the need for something like FountKids became apparent.
Having used her exclusive design knowledge which she applied to FountNursery – a stylish mix of vintage and modern interiors – Rachel has created a unique and stimulating environment for up to 16 children within FountShoreditch. As explained above, FountKids steps away from the formalities of a nursery and also offers a drop-in creche, plus co-working options in a creative studio within the same building.
Whether it’s full time nursery, a few half days or just a couple of hours parents are looking for, FountKids is the most exciting new childcare option around. Located in a central location for working parents, it has the flexibility that enables entrepreneurial mum’s and dad’s to flourish and thrive without the additional worry of childcare.
FountShoreditch is the first site to house FountKids and provides growing opportunities for not only children, but independent, micro, small and start-up businesses. There really is something for everyone that works around individual needs. It’s also worth mentioning that if we can’t house your business within FS, we have other premises locally that might be a better fit. All members of the FountLondon family receive discount at FountKids.
FountKids is for children aged 1-5 year olds; it is a drop-and-go nursery, with contactless card/Apple Pay/GPay accepted and an iZettle for quick and easy payments.
