FountLondon – Columbia Road
Hackney Road has always been considered an important route; it was previously used for driving livestock from Essex to Smithfield Market. As time went on, in the 19th century, the road changed dramatically as it became increasingly commercialised. Hackney Road is one of the most unique architectural and urban roads in London.
61 Hackney Road sits near the middle of the stretch and was previously a pub; the Duke of Clarence closed in 2006, making way for FountLondon – Columbia Road. Sitting opposite the popular destination, Columbia Road Flower Market, FountLondon – Columbia Road consists of three units and has been pivotal in FountLondon’s success of supporting the extent of small businesses over the years.
